Informations concering the New coronavirus - Current situation in Switzerland and Valais

23 March 2020 - 13h30

In agreement with the Swiss Post, we will reduce the opening hours of the post office counter to Monday to Friday due to the extraordinary location. From Saturday, 28 March, the post office will be closed on weekends.

Letters and smaller packages will be handed out at the Belalp Railway counter with immediate effect for the protection of our employees. Larger packages can be collected from the post office/tourist office.

 

20 March 2020 - 14h00

Further adjustments/restrictions have been made in recent days:

  • The Reka holiday village in Blatten will close its doors until 14 May 2020.
  • The Publicar courses, which run at night, will be discontinued.
  • There may be adjustments to the timetables. For this we refer to the online timetables of the respective service providers.
  • From now on, throughout Switzerland and for the time being until 30.04.2020, it will no longer be possible to check in or collect travel and flight luggage at the railway station. The group baggage and baggage special offers cannot be booked at present.
 

18 March 2020 - 16h30

The snow clearance between Rischinen and Täätschen will be completed this evening. The municipality of Naters will be able to reopen the road from Thursday morning, March 19. The winter service will be discontinued and the official road signs will be in effect.

 

18 March 2020 - 15h00

Due to the early end of the season, there are still some skis and snowboards to be found at the gondola lift on the Chiematte. These will be transported to Blatten in the next few days.
From Monday, March 30th, the skis/snowboards can be collected from the counter at the valley station in Blatten against handing over the key.

 

16 March 2020 - 21h00

In addition to the measures taken so far, the State Council, and subsequently also the Federal Council, decided today, 16 March 2020, to introduce the following restrictions, which require important adjustments for us:

  • All restaurants will be closed from Monday, 16 March 2020 18:30.
  • All services of a commercial nature in connection with sports or leisure activities will be prohibited.

The timetable of the Blatten-Belalp aerial tramway will be changed to the mid-season timetable from Thursday, 19 March 2020. The aerial tramway will operate at the following times:

  • Blatten from: 07.30 / 11.50 / 16.50
  • Belalp from: 07.40 / 12.00 / 17.00

In addition, a maximum of 10 passengers will be transported in the large cabin from now on, in order to ensure the necessary distance between passengers. Transportation for leisure activities is no longer permitted, so we will refuse to transport guests with leisure equipment.

 

14 March 2020 - 08h30

Due to the current situation in connection with the coronavirus, the Swiss authorities ordered on 13 March 2020 that all ski resorts in Switzerland, including the snow sports area in the destination Blatten-Belalp, must cease operations with immediate effect until at least 30 April 2020. Furthermore, events with more than 50 people are not permitted. This also includes entertainment and leisure operations. The feeder line to Belalp is not affected by this ordinance.

Guests who have already booked accommodation for the period until 30 April 2020, please contact the accommodation provider directly.

Events

Effective immediately and until 30 April 2020, events with more than 50 persons are prohibited. Events with up to 50 persons may be held in principle, subject to the safety measures.    

Restaurants, Bar, Discos  

With immediate effect, a maximum of 50 people (including staff) may stay in Swiss restaurants, bars or discotheques at any one time. The Federal Council wants to make it possible for people to keep sufficient distance and thus protect themselves from the coronavirus.    

General situation in Blatten-Belalp 

The effects on the destination as a whole are not yet known. We are constantly in discussion with the hotel and catering industry, the snow sports school, the trade, the authorities and other parties involved.

 

The health and safety of the population, employees and our guests is our top priority. 

 

13 March 2020 - 18h00

The Federal Council announced in the media conference of 13.03.2020 that the operation of the ski destinations must be discontinued with immediate effect. Belalp Bahnen AG and Blatten-Belalp Tourismus AG will comply with this decision for the protection of our guests and employees. We will reduce counter and tourist operations to a minimum and continue to guarantee them. The ski area can no longer be opened with immediate effect.
