BELALP HEXE VERTICAL RACE

For over 40 years, the legendary Hexenabfahrt on the Belalp has attracted skiers from all over Switzerland. In 2026, the major event comes with something new:
for the first time ever, the **Belalp Hexe Vertical Race** will take place. Endurance athletes will conquer around **1,000 meters of elevation gain** from Blatten (1,300 m a.s.l.) to Schönbiel (2,300 m a.s.l.) – whether on foot, with touring skis, or snowshoes.

Participants can compete **individually, as couples, or in teams**. Those who take part in both the downhill and the vertical race will be crowned **Witch Master of the Combination**.

 

**The key facts:**

- Start in Blatten at the festival tent (mass start)
- Finish at Chiematte, Belalp – approx. 722 metres of elevation gain
- Start at approx. 1:00 pm – Fun category / finish closes at approx. 4:00 pm at Chiematte, Belalp
- Start at approx. 2:30 pm – Race category (Solo Women & Men / Couples / Relay)
- Categories:
    - Solo (separate categories for women and men)
    - Couples (mixed)
    - Relay (one person completes the downhill section, one person runs)
    - Fun (the focus is on having fun; prizes will be raffled)
- No equipment requirements – choose freely between touring skis, snowshoes or trail running
- No mandatory requirements for basic equipment. Recommendation: e.g. jacket, skis/snowshoes/trail-running equipment depending on your chosen mode of travel
- Prize-giving at Witches Night in Blatten
- Cross the finish line surrounded by the unique atmosphere of the Belalp Witches
- The entry fee includes risk management, refreshments during the race, timing, a finisher or starter gift, return transport to Blatten, admission to Witches Night and an unforgettable experience.

**Entry fee and registration:**

- Entry fee until 31 December 2026: CHF 60.– per person
- Entry fee thereafter until registration closes: CHF 100.– per person
- Relay: CHF 100.–
- Online payment can be made conveniently using standard credit cards in accordance with Datasport guidelines.
- The entry fee includes all services listed in the regulations.
- Late registrations on site must pay the entry fee in cash (CHF).
- From 1 January: entry fee CHF 100.–
