From 20 April to 31 October 2023, Romaine Kuonen will be showing works with real but also surreal situations. She draws inspiration from everyday or past events or from her own photographs, which depict details or situations that evoke emotions for certain colours at that moment.
Clear colour choices and interesting breaks, which then nevertheless form their own harmony overall through their tension, make her paintings shine very vividly and powerfully. The technique used is acrylic and all media on canvas and paper.
Since 2020 she has been working with the Iranian artist, author, director and performer Hadi Mohammad Khani, resident in Iran. In 2022, they produced numerous paintings together, with which they participated in international exhibitions. In January 2023 they received the international prize Donatello in Florence and are also represented in the Contemporary Celebrity Masters Catalog 2023 as well as in the Modern MUSA Art Catalog 2022.
The title of the exhibition "Maria Hilf" as well as the cover image of the exhibition created jointly by Romaine Kuonen and Hadi M.Khani, awakens and reminds of old traditions in times of great change and crisis.
