Blatten bei Naters - through the larch forest - Belalp

closed
  • start: Blatten bei Naters (1338 m)
  • destination: Belalp

On the way from Blatten near Naters to Belalp via Lärchwald, you will reach Egga, which has an exceptional location, after about half of the way.

The settlement nestles like a swallow's nest in a gentle semicircle on the eastern "bank" of a now marshy ice-age slope lake. Only two stately granaries with legs on masonry pillars look down into the valley from the ridge. A village street with houses on the slope and farm buildings opposite leads to an elongated square with a fountain. Almost half of the houses were built in the second half of the 16th century. Ornamentation typical of the period can be seen in the protrusions of the diel trees in the façades.

The further path leads through the larch forest up to Belalp and rewards you with a magnificent view of the Great Aletsch Glacier after the ascent.
