Unterbäch glacier / Unterbächhorn

The sunny ski tour with a lot of downhill metres and little ascent to the Unterbäch glacier is a wonderful experience. First take the mountain railway up to Belalp and then on to Hohstock. Here you traverse its S ridge in a tunnel. On the west side of the ridge, the piste descends directly south to Belalp. You descend over or next to the piste until you can bypass a rocky spur of the Hohstock to the south.
Now you continue in a north-westerly direction ascending past P. 2982 to the Unterbäch glacier. From here you can either return to the ski area (in the direction of Chiematte) or continue the tour to the Unterbächhorn, Gänderhorn and Grisighorn.
Another option would be to start this tour directly from the Schönbiel mountain station at 2300 metres.

Not enough yet?

If you want to extend the tour, you can first ascend from the Hohstock with the skins for about an hour until you reach the Belgrat. Here you can look forward to a fantastic descent to the Unterbäch glacier.

In addition to the usual ski touring equipment with ice axe and crampons, climbing equipment with 20-30 m of reef cord or a half rope, 2-3 slings and express is recommended.

Guided tour

The ski tour can of course also be undertaken in the company of an experienced mountain guide. Information on the BelalpAlpinCenter offers is available here:
