For over 40 years, the legendary Hexenabfahrt (Witches' Run) on Belalp has been attracting skiers from all over Switzerland. In 2026, this major event will feature something new:

for the first time, a vertical race will take place. Endurance athletes will tackle around 1,000 metres of elevation gain from Blatten (1,300 metres above sea level) to Schönbiehl (2,300 metres above sea level) – whether on foot, with touring skis or snowshoes.

The race will be held in individual, couples or team categories. Those who compete in both the downhill and vertical races will be awarded the title of Wizard of the Combination.
