The dragon eruption in Naters officially opens the Upper Valais carnival.
After the parade featuring various Guggen bands and neighboring carnival groups, the dragon breaks free in the parking lot of the Zentrums Anlage. The mayor then presents Prince-Count Jozzelin XII with the sword as a symbol of power for the next ten days. From this moment on, the Prince-Count reigns over the village of Narvik. Afterward, the various Guggenmusik bands play on the festival grounds, and revelry continues in the Natischer Drachenhöhlen and at the bars until the early morning hours. With countless festival tents, bars, pubs, and a food mile, there’s something for every carnival lover.
