Uniqueness of the Munder saffron culture
Mund is the only place in Switzerland where the precious spice saffron is cultivated according to a centuries-old tradition. The precious "Crocus sativus" grows on an area of around 18,000 square metres on the beautiful and sunny high plateau. The cultivation requires a lot of patience and hard work.

Fun facts about saffron
Between 30 and 1,000 flowers are harvested every day during the season in October and November. The precious spice is extracted from the pistils of the flowers. Every year, the Munder saffron guild painstakingly produces between one and four kilos of saffron by hand.
