Climbing at almost 3,000m above sea level on the Belalp!

The walls at the climbing garden on Belalp are made of rough gneiss and granite. At almost 3000m above sea level, you climb here in an alpine landscape with a great panoramic view and corresponding summer freshness. Attention: In spring, there are still remnants of snow at the entrance.

Safety guidelines

Even if it looks so tempting in films: Rock climbing in nature is not for greenhorns. In addition to suitable equipment and strength, you need sound training and practice in belaying techniques. Because if you are properly belayed, serious accidents hardly ever happen when rock climbing.

The 5 most important tips:

  • Learn belaying techniques and never let go of the brake rope when belaying.
  • Question the belaying behaviour of your rope partner and address mistakes.
  • Check your partner - pay special attention to knots
  • Check commands and signs beforehand
  • Wear a helmet, take off finger rings
