The Oberaletsch climbing region impresses with its exceptional rock

The two climbing areas Panoramaweg and Roter Turm are located near the hut and are suitable as a family area or as an entry point for big ventures to the Wysshorn or Distelberg. These two are only recommended for good climbers with alpine experience!

There are still some worthwhile climbing tours in the region, but these are not listed here due to their alpine character. Further information on these can be found in the SAC club guide.

Safety guidelines

As appealing as climbing may appear in some films, it should be remembered that this activity is not without danger. In addition to proper equipment and strength, climbing requires a solid training and experience in belaying techniques. Indeed, mastering this technique helps to avoid most serious accidents.

For your safety:

  • Train yourself in belay technique. When belaying, never let go of the braking rope.
  • Question your partner's belaying technique and discuss any mistakes you make.
  • Check your partner, paying special attention to knots.
  • Before climbing, agree on the instructions and signs to use.
  • Wear a helmet and remove your rings.
