The Massaweg trail will remain closed for the coming hiking season due to the consequences of last summer's forest fire in Riederwald. For safety reasons, the hiking trail will not be open until at least the end of March 2025.

This spectacular hike takes you from Blatten b. Naters to Ried-Mörel. On the path carved into the rocks, you walk along the Massa Gorge at a lofty height.
The Massa Trail is very varied, both in terms of landscape and vegetation. The spectacular hike takes you through the wild Massa Gorge from Blatten near Naters to Ried-Mörel.
The 6.5 km long Massa Gorge is a unique natural phenomenon, formed by the ice masses of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the melt water of the Massa. The mighty gorge will give you a vivid impression of the power of water.
The hiking trail follows the course of the historic Suone Riederi. This was first mentioned in 1385 and brought the melt water of the glacier to the fields near Ried-Mörel until the 1940s. You also enjoy an impressive view of the Massa Gorge and the Rhone Valley.
