Blatten Belalp: Massaweg

This spectacular hike takes you from Blatten b. Naters to Ried-Mörel. On the path carved into the rocks, you walk along the Massa Gorge at a lofty height.

The Massa Trail is very varied, both in terms of landscape and vegetation. The spectacular hike takes you through the wild Massa Gorge from Blatten near Naters to Ried-Mörel.

The 6.5 km long Massa Gorge is a unique natural phenomenon, formed by the ice masses of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the melt water of the Massa. The mighty gorge will give you a vivid impression of the power of water.

The hiking trail follows the course of the historic Suone Riederi. This was first mentioned in 1385 and brought the melt water of the glacier to the fields near Ried-Mörel until the 1940s. You also enjoy an impressive view of the Massa Gorge and the Rhone Valley.

Exclusion zone forest fire Bitsch

The municipalities of Bitsch and Riederalp have set up a restricted zone in the area of the forest fire. Any person who fails to comply with an order issued to him or her by a competent authority or a competent official with reference to the threat of punishment under this Article shall be punished with a fine.
