Climbing at almost 3,000m above sea level on the Belalp!

The walls at the Belalp climbing garden consist of rough gneiss and granite. At almost 3000m above sea level, you climb here in alpine surroundings with a magnificent panoramic view and corresponding summer freshness. Note: there are still snow remnants at the start in spring.

Safety guidelines

Even if it looks tempting in films: rock climbing in nature is not for beginners. In addition to the right equipment and strength, a solid education and practice in securing techniques are needed. Those who are properly secured hardly ever suffer serious accidents when rock climbing.

The 5 most important tips:

  • Learn securing techniques and never let go of the brake rope while securing
  • Question the securing behaviour of rope partners and address mistakes
  • Do a partner check – especially check knots
  • Agree on commands and signals beforehand
  • Wear a helmet, remove finger rings
