The chapel was built in the years 1689-1696 and the year 1696 is inscribed in a medallion at the top of the second innermost yoke. Since then, the Blessed Sacrament may also be kept in the chapel by special episcopal permission granted on 13 August 1835.
Description
In the centre of the sparsely populated Stafels Bel, the stately Chapel of the Holy Trinity sits enthroned on a gentle transverse ridge with a chancel facing down the valley. It is a striking landmark in the village, visible from afar.
Mass broadcast 1978
On 6 August 1978, the service was broadcast from this chapel on Radio DRS (now SRF). The mass was read by Chaplain Otto Walker, while the Blatten chapel choir joined in the service with four-part songs.
