From the Safrand village of Mund, the trail leads through picturesque meadows and old hamlets up to Chastler. From here you continue down to Finnen. After a short rest at the gallows with a view of the Rhone valley and the Mischabel group, you return to Mund.

This circular hike starts in the village of Mund and leads up to the Chastler. Enjoy the view of the Rhone valley and the Valais mountains.

After a short descent, you reach Finnen. This is a pre-Alpine area of Eggerberg and has been documented since 1275. Hike to the front of the cross and gallows and take time for a break with views of the Rhone valley and the Mischabel massif.

The way back leads below the route already taken to Oberi Brich and via Färchu to Mund. Enjoy the fantastic view here as well.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

This hike is a highlight especially in autumn when the larches turn golden!

Safety guidelines

Despite the "impossible to miss" marking of the hiking trails, we recommend for safety reasons to always have an appropriate hiking map with you, so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency, for example.

Especially in autumn, you should also be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, stones or holes in the path. After storms, trees can still fall over or branches can fall down. Especially in adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery passages can occur on natural paths. You have to expect this kind of path obstruction when you go on a hike.

Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. In some cases surefootedness is required. If you think that certain sections of the trail are not passable for you, you should avoid them.
