The legendary Witches' Downhill on the Belalp has been attracting skiers from all over Switzerland for over 40 years. In 2026, the major event has a new feature:
The Belalp Hexe Vertical Race will take place for the first time. Endurance athletes will conquer around 1,000 vertical meters from Blatten (1,300 m above sea level) to Schönbiehl (2,300 m above sea level) - whether on foot, touring skis or snowshoes.
The start is in individual, couples or team categories. Anyone who competes in both the downhill and vertical categories will be awarded the title of combined champion.
