From Blatten, walk to Rischinen and through the forest to Egga. From there, the path continues via Holzji to Aletschbord. Enjoy the view of the Great Aletsch Glacier here.

The starting point for this snowshoe hike is Blatten bei Naters. Between the hamlet of Rischinen and Aletschbord, you will experience nature at its finest.

Via Egga, you walk in the direction of Holzji, where you can observe wildlife from the observation post. Then continue through the snowy forest to a clearing, from where you can enjoy a unique view of the Great Aletsch Glacier. Follow the path to your destination, Aletschbord, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Valais mountains and the largest glacier stream in the Alps.

At the historic Hotel Belalp, you can refresh yourself with food and drinks for the return journey, which takes 30 minutes along the panoramic road from Aletschbord to the cable car.

Directions

From Blatten, walk to Rischinen and turn left here onto the trail (see signs). You will pass through the forest and cross the bridge at Bruchji up to Egga. There you will take the Holzji Trail, which is mostly in the forest. Continue to the wildlife observation post and then it's only a few minutes to Aletschbord.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear, snowshoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, as well as sufficient supplies of food and drinks, should be carried in case there are no places to stop or shop, or if they are closed. Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always have an appropriate hiking map with you. Bring poles or other aids.

From Brig, reach Blatten bei Naters via Naters, then continue by cable car to the car-free Belalp.

Paid parking is available at Chienzlichrommu and in the parking garage in Blatten bei Naters.
